Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen

We reserved a late table for New Year’s eve, which we could have been understanding to some traffic on such an evening. We were met by a very snippy hostess/coat check person. If you don’t want people standing in your front lobby area, which is tiny, then ensure that their table is ready. Also, the tiny vestibule with the coat check smells like a men’s urinal. We were given an option to sit at a communal table as a band-aid to incompetence of front of the house management. Not to mention having already having paid $50 per person deposit to secure a table. We were seated 40 minutes late after quite a few snide comments from the “greeting” staff. The back bar decor looks like Marshall’s and the Dollar Tree got drunk and made some poor choices. We came as a party of four, and opted for four course prix-fixe. The food quality does not meet fine dining standards, but presentation was decent. All of the food came at same time for each course, even if our dessert arrived before main. Our waiter staff were very attentive, but their supporting staff was obviously just trying to push us out by showing up early with dessert. When we did receive the mains, the two beef dishes were grey and bland, the fish was good though. When the dessert arrived at proper time, the cake in both options were dry and crumbly, not matching the description whatsoever. We are a group that comes planning to spend decent money on decent food and service but sadly, all we got for the money were a couple of the plates being good. The beverage and food wait staff assigned to our table were the shining point of the evening and they should be commended above all the other lacking team members.

I remember when they first opened up, and they maintained that spirit of good food and drink since. The family style pastas and fish are great. Though sometimes hit and miss on the dishes individually, it's always been fun to pop into the library area for a drink or get a business meal in here. Parking in the basement lot or around the drive. Pasta is still great, had the lamb garganelli, but the appetizers like the hummus and the octopus were not inspiring. Very nice staff though.wbile steak was tough the salt and vinegar fries underneath were an undeniable hit.

Probably one of the nicer restaurants in the region, with elegant cocktails and fine wine, an array of suave apps including delicious vegetable fare, and premium entrees. The biscuits and honey are a phenom, and my scallops were on point. The modern design decor and contemporary luxury vibe add a special and cinematic atmosphere. The service is attentive and polite. Most of the other diners fit the scene, with the exception of the loud, drunk, and obnoxious table of four that was seated directly next to us (we had reservations for two on a date night), who came close to ruining an evening that we paid a pretty penny to experience. For those types, the hostesses should have read the room and isolated them. We expect more discretion next time.
